Like a windshield, it's curved, long, wide and offers an exceptional viewpoint on the inside of Twin Turbo Furious : a high complication mechanical engine. Born in the world of racecars, Twin Turbo Furious features the most racetrack-inspired of all complications. Its chronograph comes with an in-house pitboard indicator. Elaborating on the original Twin Turbo movement, the one inside Twin Turbo Furious takes the mechanical prowess one lap further. With its 832 components, caliber JCFM05 gathers an array of complications that has literally no competitor. It took years to develop a movement that gathers such rare functions as a pair of flying, triple-axis tourbillons, a decimal minute repeater on Cathedral gongs and a monopusher chronograph. The most car-related of all complications is elevated to new height with the invention of the pit board reference time.

THE TWIN FLYING TRIPLE-AXIS TOURBILLONS

The tourbillons fitted in caliber JCFM05 are held only by their lower end, with no upper bridge. This makes them flying tourbillons. Their carriage is shaped like a sphere, rotating along three axes. This triple-axis structure enhances the benefits of the tourbillon. Using two such tourbillons side by side deepens that effect and augments their accuracy.

THE POWER RESERVE INDICATOR

Like a fuel gauge, caliber JCFM05 displays the remaining energy stored in its tank. In this case, its two barrels. It is an achievement that such a sophisticated caliber, powering so many complications, can reach 48 hours. It is the result of years of development and fine-tuning.

THE MONOPUSHER CHRONOGRAPH

The chronograph is the one complication associated with automobile racing. The one fitted inside caliber JCFM05 is a monopusher version with column wheel. It starts, stops and is reset by pressing the pusher hidden inside the winding crank.

THE PIT BOARD REFERENCE TIME

It's associated with a unique indication : an instantaneous differential time display. When the duration of a lap has been determined, spinning the crank rotates the sapphire disc around the hour and minute dial. When facing the seconds' hand, it instantly shows whether that lap was faster (green markings) or slower (red markings) than the previous one, and by how many seconds.

THE DECIMAL MINUTE REPEATER

Using the slide on the left flank, the Twin Turbo Furious tells time with sound. The minute repeater function is one of the most prestigious ones. Jacob & Co. uses a rare type : a decimal minute repeater. Caliber JCFM05 strikes one note for each hour, one double note for every 10-minute segment (instead of quarters of hours) and a different note for each minute after the 10-minute segments. To enhance this sound, Jacob & Co. used another rare feature : Cathedral gongs. The metal rods bent around the movement are almost twice as long as traditional ones. They produce a deeper, longer, more intense sound.
