THE MYSTERY TOURBILLON 44MM

Amethyst

I

The Mystery Tourbillon 44MM is a horological statement of exceptional sophistication. Its highly elaborate movement is covered in and surrounded by a dizzying number of gems. It sums up the very nature of Jacob & Co., which is the combination of high jewelry, high watchmaking and relentless innovation. The Mystery Tourbillon 44MM is a double tribute to great achievements of high watchmaking. One is Mystery Clocks. First invented by 19th century watchmaker and illusionist Jean-Eugène Robert-Houdin, they amazed the crowds with their intriguing and apparently impossible mechanisms. Like them, The Mystery Tourbillon 44MM’s display is enigmatic. The other is the tourbillon itself. The Mystery Tourbillon 44MM is a contemporary, never-imagined take on the brand's flagship complication : its carriage spins 360° on three axes, at high speed, and is set with 3 different types of diamonds, including a 288-facet, Jacob-cut one. The sophistication of the gem-setting Jacob & Co. has applied on The Mystery Tourbillon 44MM is beyond measure. The 44-mm case and dial elements are drenched with over 545 gems of hexagon and baguette cut.

From a creative concept to design inspiration. To the first stroke of a pencil through hundreds of iterations. A timepiece like no other comes to life. The Mystery Tourbillon 44MM combines unheard-of levels of watchmaking and gem-setting sophistication, resulting in a mind-blowing creation.

II

Five years after releasing The Mystery Tourbillon in a diameter of 50 mm, Jacob & Co. decided to take on another challenge : to deliver the magic and puzzle of this incredible high jewelry, high complication watch in a smaller, more wearable format. To achieve that goal, to fit into a 44 mm-wide gold case, the original twin, flying, back-to-back, triple-axis tourbillon has evolved in both architecture and ornamentation. The most striking mechanical aspect of The Mystery Tourbillon 44MM is its tourbillon. It doesn't have an upper bridge, therefore it's a flying tourbillon. It's right in the middle of the watch, therefore it's a central tourbillon. Its carriage rotates on three different sets of gears, therefore it's a triple-axis tourbillon. The Mystery Tourbillon 44MM is a central, flying, triple-axis tourbillon. What's more, and for the first time, the tourbillon carriage is covered by a decorative structure set with a 288-facet, Jacob-cut diamond and 9 hexagon-cut white diamonds. This structure, shaped like a flower, spins along with the carriage. This tourbillon alternates between a flower and a technical design.
