Caliber JCAM52 is in a class of its own in the Jacob & Co. catalog. The large date and power reserve indication are sitting on top of a finely executed movement, chosen for its reliability. Developed in a hand-wound version, it does away with self-winding in order to shave off a precious few millimeters. This slimness is reflected in the overall design of Palatial Classic Big Date. Under the sapphire glass, the hard stone dials of Palatial Classic Big Date are a delicate ornament. Selection of the Malachite, Onyx and Lapis Lazuli blocks only retains the very best ones, with the most intense colors and zero defect. Cutting them into slabs of extreme thinness and piercing them to receive the dial's hour markers and complication fixtures requires a special and rare know-how.

THE BIG DATE DISPLAY

Right under the dial, a pair of discs indicate the date. One is dedicated to the tens, the other to the units. Once properly coordinated, they work in unison to display the date in a larger window, in a large font, resulting in optimal readability.

A hand-wound movement requires a little upkeep : it has to be wound before its power reserve is fully exhausted. The power reserve indicator is a precious instrument when it comes to wearing such a timepiece as Palatial Classic Big Date.
