EPIC X BRIDGES

When launching the new Epic X collection in 2016, Jacob & Co. ventured into a new direction, with new shapes, new material and a new frame of mind. The inspiration of the design came from the letter X which symbolizes something unknown, mysterious and appealing which was the energy of the brand at the time. Epic X Bridges is a sleek and sophisticated evolution of that original design. Epic X Bridges is the combination of a staple of watchmaking, the skeleton watch, and the radical design approach of Jacob & Co. As a result, Epic X Bridges unites the inside and the outside, the movement and the 44-mm case. Epic X Bridges' bezel is smooth and polished, with a steeper angle. The X-shaped lugs are full and flush. Their tips are angular and vertical. The dial-side bridges present a sophisticated engraved Clou de Paris pattern, whose outline defines each piece's color theme. Transparency, color, innovation, three of Jacob & Co.'s design guidelines are gathered in Epic X Bridges.

Epic X Bridges is a case and a movement coming together as one. Designing Epic X Bridges required a different frame of mind, where everything is ruled by the X, while letting the light in. The four lugs on Epic X Bridges are unique. Their shape, their inclination, their edges are a true Epic X Bridges signature. They are a continuation of the exclusive skeleton movement. It is structured around two vertical bridges and the framing of a vast amount of void.

Epic X Bridges is ruled by design and so is caliber JCAM45. Functionally, it is an hour and minute movement. In spirit, its skeleton structure follows the X rule. It is light, technical and revolves entirely around its shape.

THE SKELETON MOVEMENT

Caliber JCAM45 was specifically developed for Epic X Bridges. It offers maximum transparency thanks to its skeletonized form. All the components that should be full are hollowed out. Instead of a mainplate, the entire movement is hanging on the two vertical bridges. Every visible component has a double function : technical and aesthetic. The structure becomes the shape, the design and the identity of Epic X Bridges.

THE FINISHINGS

Caliber JCAM45 receives surface finishings that serve its skeleton structure and the elegant purpose of Epic X Bridges. The beveling of the components is everywhere, enhancing the structure, revealing it with brilliant and matte edges. The bridges that define Epic X Bridges' identity are finished with a Clou de Paris pattern and outlined in the same color as the inner ring and crown.
