When launching the new Epic X collection in 2016, Jacob & Co. ventured into a new direction, with new shapes, new material and a new frame of mind. The inspiration of the design came from the letter X which symbolizes something unknown, mysterious and appealing which was the energy of the brand at the time. Epic X Tourbillon Baguette is the combination of a staple of watchmaking, the skeleton watch, and the radical design approach of Jacob & Co. As a result, Epic X Tourbillon Baguette unites the movement and the 44-mm case. The X shape starts at the lugs, goes on to the movement's bridges and finishes on the other pair of lugs. This end-to-end design is enhanced by a special feature in Epic X Tourbillon Baguette. Epic X becomes the vehicle of absolute Jacob & Co. creativity when added with two specialties. Epic X Tourbillon Baguette on Bracelet uses the original Epic X movement enhanced with a flying tourbillon. The entire case and movement are set with baguette diamonds. And to make this an absolutely thorough picture of exclusivity, Jacob & Co. has designed a gold bracelet, whose every link is also set with gems. Transparency, structure, high jewelry, high watchmaking, all of Jacob & Co.'s design guidelines are gathered in Epic X Tourbillon Baguette.

Epic X Tourbillon Baguette is a case, a movement, a bracelet and gems coming together as one. Designing Epic X Tourbillon Baguette required a different frame of mind, where everything is ruled by the X, while letting the light in so gems could reflect it fully. Caliber JCAM03 is fitted with a high-end tourbillon, aligned with a large barrel. The energy it stores allows this hand-wound movement to beat for 72 hours, a record for a timepiece of this magnitude and lavishness.

THE TOURBILLON

The tourbillon's original purpose is to counterbalance the negative effects gravity has on a movement's accuracy. By putting its escapement into a constant spin, it counteracts this natural defect. THE GEM-SET CASE

Epic X Tourbillon Baguette showcases Jacob & Co.'s gem-setting skills. It takes the best hands, the best gems and the best know-how to set its case, crown guards, lugs and bezel. Additionally, the diamond layout on the inside of the dial, on the dial-side bridges. And to do so while using the demanding invisible setting, Jacob & Co.'s most prestigious and favored technique. The precious stones selection and setting process devised by Jacob & Co. is extremely demanding. Drawing from over 30 years of experience in high jewelry, it results in a perfectly smooth, seamless surface of gleaming gems.

THE GEM-SET BRACELET

Jacob & Co.'s knowledge and skill are fully applied to the dedicated bracelet of Epic X Tourbillon Baguette. The side links and the center links are entirely covered with gems. Once more, Jacob & Co. is using its signature technique of invisible setting. Gems are laid out side by side, seamlessly, creating a continuous cloud of brilliance throughout Epic X Tourbillon Baguette.
