Social media sensation Producer Michael, aka Michael Blakey, began his career as a drum player, then became a music producer, music label founder and manager. He worked in the music, TV and cinema industry before setting up a 2.4 M. follower social media-based business. He is an avid watch collector and a longtime admirer and wearer of Jacob & Co. timepieces. So much so that Jacob & Co. engaged in a partnership with him and created the Epic X Producer Michael collection.

When launching the new Epic X collection in 2016, Jacob & Co. ventured into a new direction, with new shapes, new material and a new frame of mind. The inspiration of the design came from the letter X which symbolizes something unknown, mysterious and appealing which was the energy of the brand at the time. Epic X Producer Michael is a sleek and sophisticated evolution of that original design. Epic X Producer Michael is a family within Epic X. It uses the cases of both Epic X Skeleton and Epic X Bridges and a highly openworked movement. The unique design elements of the collection are a rainbow colored inner ring, a pair of drumstrick-shaped hands, the man's signature on the inner side of the movement's bridges and caseback.

Epic X Producer Michael is based on both version of Epic X : Skeleton and Bridges. Both are a case and a movement coming together as one. Designing Epic X required a different frame of mind, where everything is ruled by the X, while letting the light in. The four lugs on Epic X Producer Michael are unique. Their shape, their inclination, their edges are a true Epic X Producer Michael signature. They are a continuation of the exclusive skeleton movement. It is structured around two vertical bridges and the framing of a vast amount of void.

Epic X Producer Michael is ruled by design and so is caliber JCAM45. Functionally, it is an hour and minute movement. In spirit, its skeleton structure follows the X rule. It is light, technical and revolves entirely around its shape.

THE SKELETON MOVEMENT

Caliber JCAM45 was specifically developed for Epic X. It offers maximum transparency thanks to its skeletonized form. All the components that should be full are hollowed out. The structure becomes the shape. Even the vertical Jacob & Co. logo has a structured, unusual appearance.

THE DRUMSTICK HANDS & SIGNATURE

At the very beginning of his career, Producer Michael was a drummer. Replacing the traditional Jacob & Co.-designed Epic X hands with black drumstricks with white tips is a tribute to his first passion. The caseback of Epic X Producer Michael bears Michael Blakey's hand signature, in gold letters, as a last element of personalization.

THE FINISHINGS

Caliber JCAM45 receives surface finishings that serve its skeleton structure and the elegant purpose of Epic X Producer Michael. The beveling of the components is everywhere, enhancing the structure, revealing it with brilliant and matte edges.
