When launching the new Epic X collection in 2016, Jacob & Co. ventured into a new direction, with new shapes, new material and a new frame of mind. The inspiration of the design came from the letter X which symbolizes something unknown, mysterious and appealing which was the energy of the brand at the time. Epic X Baguette is a sleek and sophisticated evolution of that original design. Epic X Baguette is the combination of a staple of watchmaking, the skeleton watch, the radical design approach of Jacob & Co. and its mastery of high jewelry As a result, Epic X Baguette bridges the inside and the outside, the movement and the 44-mm case. Epic X Baguette' bezel is full of baguette-cut white diamonds. The X-shaped lugs are full and flush. Their tips are angular and vertical. And the vertical bridges present a sophisticated engraved Clou de Paris pattern, Hose outline defines each piece's color theme. Transparency, color, innovation, three of Jacob & Co.'s design guidelines are gathered in Epic X Baguette.

Epic X Baguette is a case and a movement coming together as one. Designing Epic X Baguette required a different frame of mind, where everything is ruled by the X, while letting the light in. The four lugs on Epic X Baguette are unique. Their shape, their inclination, their edges are a true Epic X Baguette signature. They are a continuation of the exclusive skeleton movement. It is structured around two vertical bridges and the framing of a vast amount of void.

Epic X Baguette is ruled by design and so is caliber JCAM45. Functionally, it is an hour and minute movement. In spirit, its skeleton structure follows the X rule. It is light, technical and revolves entirely around its shape.

THE SKELETON MOVEMENT

Caliber JCAM45 was specifically developed for Epic X Baguette. It offers maximum transparency thanks to its skeletonized form. All the components that should be full are hollowed out. The structure becomes the shape. Even the vertical Jacob & Co. logo has a structured, unusual appearance.

THE FINISHINGS

A skeleton movement usually follows the natural structure of a movement. Caliber JCAM45 was designed to obtain a visual effect. It's held by two vertical bridges. Between them, the vital components are vertically aligned. The openworked barrel at 12 o'clock and the balance wheel with skeleton bridge at 6 o'clock are located dial side, near the sapphire crystal. They all come together as one clearly visible structure.
