THE COMPLICATIONS AND FEATURES
IofIII
THE VERTICAL TOURBILLON
Gravity has a naturally negative impact on a movement's accuracy. By putting its escapement into a constant spin, the tourbillon counteracts this natural defect. That is even more true for movements that remain in vertical positions, such as pocket watches and even more so, clocks. It's for them that the tourbillon was invented. In a rare occurrence, Jacob & Co. fitted a tourbillon inside caliber JACAM58, and as it's a specialty of the brand, it's a flying tourbillon.

THE LALIQUE CRYSTAL CASE
Honed over decades, Lalique's technique of molded crystal is the one Jacob & Co. retained for the Bugatti Calandre. Molten crystal is poured into an engineered steel mold, where it cools and solidifies into the sculpture that is Bugatti Calandre. The clarity, purity, and inner light of the crystal ensure that every detail is accentuated when light passes through. Once cast, artisans spend months refining every surface to sharpen edges, enhance textures, and frost and polish finishes.

THE JACOB-CUT RED CRYSTAL
Sitting at the top of Bugatti Calandre is a beacon of the Jacob & Co. style. Red like the Bugatti logo, this large piece of crystal is also a nod to Jacob & Co.'s original calling, high jewelry. It showcases the gem-cutting expertise of the brand, as it is made with the signature, patented Jacob Cut : it has a total of 288 facets.
