ASTRONOMIA SKY

Celestial bodies and space exploration have long driven Jacob Arabo's creativity. In 2014, he translated his intimate passion into the ambitious Astronomia concept, a wrist-sized model of a planetary system and its constant motion. Astronomia Sky is a more advanced iteration of the original concept, aiming at a higher degree of sky realism. The Astronomia Sky case is designed like an astronomer's observatory. A vast sapphire dome on top and a streamlined gold frame surround a single-block, full sapphire caseband. Their transparency offers a galaxy-wide view. A central, three-dimensional earth sits on top of it all. The orbital second hand is shaped like a spacecraft. The movement plate is crafted out of mirror-polished, blue titanium and bears the constellations that populate our night sky. Astronomia Sky is pure movement, at a level of complexity and beauty that makes it unique.

From a creative concept to design inspiration. To the first stroke of a pencil through hundreds of iterations. A timepiece like no other comes to life. As functional as an observatory. Powered by an impressive caliber. Astronomia Sky is high watchmaking taking to the night sky.

Creating a miniature, mechanical solar system required going beyond all preconceptions, innovating and breaking barriers, like space exploration. Caliber JCAM11 is one of the most advanced and complex movements in the Jacob & Co. catalog. Caliber JCAM11 is a three-dimensional movement with a central, vertical axis. It carries five satellites. All of them rotate on their individual axis, and around the central axis. The platform’s full rotation takes 20 minutes. A triple-axis tourbillon, a diamond moon, an Earth globe, a rotating dial, an orbital seconds, its complications take on the form of planetary bodies. Under the platform, Astronomia Sky displays actual sidereal indications on a finely crafted blue rotating base. Caliber JCAM11 adds several layers of complication to the seminal Astronomia movement. Reaching a total of 395 components is not all it took. Astronomia Sky required a thorough rethinking of the Astronomia concept to take it to an even higher orbit.

395 components. One full movement rotation in 20 minutes. Triple-axis gravitational tourbillon. Sidereal year display with sky chart indication. Spinning diamond moon. Orbital dial. Central day/night indication. 60-hour power reserve.

Astronomia Sky blends constant motion and extreme precision. It is a choreography of celestial bodies that are actually complications, achieved by exclusive, hand-wound Caliber JCAM11.

IIII

Astronomia Sky embraces its spectacular nature. Representing ultimate horological showmanship and impeccable technique, it comes with an assertive case and exuberant craft. It stands out even among creative and high complication timepieces. Astronomia Sky is a statement piece.
