ASTRONOMIA REGULATOR

Regulators date back to the 19th century manufacturing workshops, where dozens of workers gathered in the same space. They required a single reference time to regulate their work, hence the word Regulator. To optimize time reading, each of their indications were split into 3 distinct locations on the dial. The 43-mm case is fitted with large panes of sapphire. In a world first, the 3D, rotating movement makes one full turn in 60 seconds. It has a separate hours and minutes display. The ring-shaped seconds dial spins counterclockwise in one minute. With Astronomia Regulator, Jacob & Co. offers a ground-breaking take on the Regulator, transforming a watchmaking classic with one of its signature twists.

Astronomia Regulator profits from Jacob & Co. experience in rotating, vertical, tourbillon movements, shaped by Astronomia Tourbillon. Its rotation speed was initially set at 20 minutes. In 2023, Jacob & Co. released Astronomia Revolution, whose rotation speed was one full turn per minute. Astronomia Regulator's caliber JCAM56 builds up on the experience of the Astronomia Revolution. It has a rotation speed of 60 seconds and carries three arms. One is a double-axis flying tourbillon. The other two arms are dedicated to the time display. The blue and translucent ring tells the seconds by spinning counter-clockwise in 60 seconds. One minute per 360-degree rotation requires a tremendous amount of energy flowing through a very delicate movement. To regulate that massive flow, Jacob & Co. added a patented constant force device. It provides the watch with a steady source of energy, and helps it be more accurate.

ONE-MINUTE ROTATING MOVEMENT

Like all Astronomias, caliber JCAM56 is a vertical, three-dimensional, rotating platform. It is the fastest in all the Astronomia collection. It completes one full spin every 60 seconds. The entire movement can be used as a seconds indicator.

THE REGULATOR DISPLAY

Astronomia Regulator has one separate sub-dial for minutes, and another for the hours. Attached to the platform, they also spin in one minute. If left alone, they would end up upside down. Astronomia Regulator uses a differential system to keep them upright all the time.

THE FLOATING SECONDS RING

From the movementfs base, a long golden hand sticks out. It points to a large, domed and translucent ring : the seconds scale. That ring spins counter-clockwise in 60 seconds, offering a clear and unparalleled way to display the seconds.

THE FLYING DOUBLE-AXIS TOURBILLON

The third arm is a flying tourbillon. It makes one rotation on its own axis in one minute. Being a part of the vertical platform, it has a second rotation axis, also in one minute. It is therefore a double-axis flying tourbillon.
