Bugatti
Supercar manufacturer Bugatti and high complication watchmaker and high jeweler Jacob & Co. have collaborated to create cutting-edge products, watches and jewelry piece that channel the spirit of the supercars with a unique twist.
Collaboration
In early 2019, luxury watchmaker and jeweler Jacob & Co. and Bugatti, the world's most celebrated high-performance sports car maker, signed an exclusive partnership to produce co-branded products.
This long-term partnership brings together two giants of cutting-edge design that share a passion for pushing the limits of what seems mechanically possible, crafting the most sophisticated engineering in machines of eye-catching beauty.
To inaugurate this partnership led by performance, two timepieces were created. These watches, based on the Twin Turbo Furious and the Epic X Chrono, have been directly inspired by the unique design and spirit of Bugatti supercars.
These two timepieces are just the beginning, however, as both CEOs are committed to amazing lovers of mechanical products in the future.
Jean Bugatti
The Jean Bugatti presents itself in the guise of an elegant, refined timepiece with a pronounced retro feel. This is the latest offspring of the fruitful partnership between Jacob & Co. and Bugatti Automobiles.Compared to the rest of the Jacob & Co. timepiece collection, the Jean Bugatti stands out. It feels classical and to some, even tame. It is the result of the deep relationship between Bugatti Automobiles and Jacob & Co., which is based on an horological interpretation of automotive design. So The Jean Bugatti feels like the dashboard of a collectible Bugatti car. And the openings at the bottom of the dial feel like the grille and headlights of a 1930's coupé from Molsheim.
Epic X
The sporty Bugatti Édition Limitée 110 Ans is a limited edition of 110 pieces to mark each year since the founding of Bugatti by Ettore Bugatti in 1909. The defining technical element of the Epic X Chrono is the Jacob & Co. JCAA05 skeletonized self-winding chronograph movement, equipped with a column-wheel to launch the chronograph functions. The Bugatti version features a special forged carbon case, not available anywhere else in the Epic X range, and incorporates the colors of the French flag into its bold dial design. The timepiece comes on a special rubber strap inspired by the iconic rear sections of Bugatti supercars.
TWIN TURBO FURIOUS BUGATTI
The original Twin Turbo Furious electrified Baselworld when it launched in 2018, with its breathtaking twin triple-axis tourbillons, column-wheel chronograph and decimal repeater. Designed with high performance sports cars in mind, the Twin Turbo Furious Bugatti Édition features the blue of the French flag around the dial, celebrates Bugatti's 110 year anniversary with a special case back, positions the Bugatti logo proudly and prominently in the center of the dial, renames the power reserve indicator "fuel" and sports the colors of the French flag on the gauge.
BUGATTI CHIRON TOURBILLON
It started with an idea conceived by Jacob & Co. together with Bugatti – how to reproduce the visceral sensation of the iconic Bugatti 16-cylinder engine in a timepiece. After almost a full year of development, the answer is here in the form of the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon. Everything is designed to honor the Chiron in a timepiece. The case is inspired by the flowing lines of the Chiron and the movement, or “engine block,” intended to duplicate the Bugatti engine, is placed under a massive sapphire crystal, on display for all to see. Here’s where it gets interesting: push the right-hand crown of the timepiece and the engine comes to life – the crankshaft turns and the pistons pump up and down, just like a true internal combustion engine. Two “turbochargers” (down from four in the actual Chiron engine) on the side of the engine block spin while the engine runs, adding to the visual impact.Incredible to see and unbelievably complicated to realize (the movement is comprised of 578 components), the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon timepiece has done something no one has ever even attempted before – to seamlessly marry engines and watches.
