Bearer Of A Heavyweight Story: Jacob & Co. Unveils Limited-Edition Astronomia Art Ring of Fire Watch To Commemorate ‘Ring of Fire’ Heavyweight Title Fight

May 9, 2024

Jacob & Co. has unveiled a bespoke, handmade Astronomia Art Ring of Fire timepiece to commemorate the highly anticipated undisputed heavyweight title fight 'Ring of Fire' between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk taking place on May 18th. The custom-crafted timepiece is set to be auctioned by Sotheby’s, the world’s premier destination for art and luxury, promoting access to and ownership of exceptional art and luxury objects, during the fight week, with all proceeds benefiting Make-A-Wish® International.

To mark the long-awaited milestone moment in boxing history, His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) commissioned Jacob & Co. to design the limited edition of four Astronomia Art Ring of Fire watches. Each of the exclusive timepieces, valued at approximately $650,000, bear a testament to the epic showdown between the two heavyweight champions.

"This is an incredible and rare opportunity to own a piece of boxing and sporting history. The magnitude of this fight cannot be underestimated”, says His Excellency Turki Alalshikh. “It will be spoken about for years, and the successful bidder will share a special bond with the lead protagonists of this heavyweight story through the collective ownership of these unique and elegant timepieces."

The Astronomia Art Ring of Fire, part of Jacob & Co.'s Astronomia Art collection, is a 50-mm rose gold timepiece with design details that pay homage to both fighters. The design features intricate three-dimensional figurines of Fury and Usyk, each less than one centimeter tall, yet visible from all angles. Showcasing artistic craft and extreme intricacy, two figurines representing the champions' boxing gloves have been crafted so finely that their autograph can be easily read. The hour and minute dial is inspired by the iconic World Boxing Council (WBC) champion belt with its unique green color seen on the alligator strap. The watch’s regulator, a double-axis flying tourbillon, controls the rotation of the scene.

The auction, set to take place as part of Riyadh Season at Kingdom Arena on May 18, is not only a highlight of the event but also a charitable initiative. All proceeds from the auction will be dedicated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a globally renowned charity spanning over 40 countries, devoted to granting the wishes of children battling critical illnesses.

“Sotheby’s is thrilled to be hosting this charity auction in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, during the highly anticipated Ring of Fire heavyweight boxing match”, says Michael Macaulay, Sotheby’s Deputy Chairman, Contemporary Art, who will take to the rostrum as auctioneer for the event. “The opportunity to help raise vital funds for internationally renowned charity Make-A-Wish is always a privilege.”

Fury and Usyk will each be gifted one of the four limited-edition watches as a keepsake symbolizing their participation in what is touted as the first undisputed heavyweight title fight of the 21st century.

“We're very excited to see Fury and Usyk get into it", says Jacob Arabo, Jacob & Co. Chairman and Founder. "At Jacob & Co., we have a long history of making bespoke timepieces with and for fighters. It's a privilege for us to make this limited-edition Astronomia Art Ring of Fire. Especially because one of the four timepieces will go to one of the most respectable charities and because this fight is an unforgettable moment in boxing history that is one for the ages!”
