Story

With its groundbreaking city-time display, the Epic SF24 Tourbillon enters a bold new dimension entirely undiscovered by traditional watches. Named after its Split-Flap, 24-city, vertical, second time zone display, the Epic SF24 Tourbillon is a jet-set world-traveler's watch that is unique in its complexity and utility. Remarkably challenging to engineer and manufacture, yet easy and intuitive to use: the functionality and design of the Epic SF24 Tourbillon render it prepared to take on the world.

Split-Flap World Time Display

The patented World Time Display of the Epic SF24 Tourbillon comprises a total of 163 components, allowing it to work at a press of a button, on demand, with exceptional feel and reliability. Inspired by traditional split-flap timetable displays that used to equip airports, every press of the button integrated into the left hand side of the Split-Flap extension turns it to the next city name - and, along with it, also advances the hour display.

Designed to stand out among traditional and ubiquitous 2nd time zone indications, the Split-Flap display is a spectacular engineering achievement. Not simply for its hidden complexity, but for its ability to bring a smile of appreciation to even the most tired of world travelers. It's also one of the largest and easiest to read, a feature those wearing glasses will instantly recognize.

EPIC SF24 TOURBILLON CALIBER

The Exclusive JCAA03 Caliber powers the Epic SF24 Tourbillon and all its time indications. The time on the main dial is set via the crown located at 4 o'clock. Once the hours and minutes have been set, the World Time Display is to be adjusted via the dedicated pusher. The main dial and second time zone display then work together through a fully mechanical connection, making for a highly engineered, audible and visible feat - not just when it is adjusted, but also once every hour.

Comprising 528 components, including 163 for the Split-Flap display, the JCAA03 caliber's 42-hour power reserve is replenished by a self-winding rotor mechanism. Finished with high-end Côtes de Genève, circular-graining and polished screwheads, it tastefully combines the values of traditional horology with the achievements only possible in cutting-edge, ultra-modern watchmaking.

FLYING TOURBILLON

The tourbillon was designed to offset the effect of gravity on a watch movement. The tourbillon used in the Epic SF24 Tourbillon is of the flying variety, meaning that it is supported from underneath, which is far more difficult than a traditional tourbillon. The tourbillon has long been considered the king of complications, with its spinning and turning movement. Only the best watchmakers can accomplish this feat of high watchmaking.

The one-minute flying tourbillon of the Epic SF24 Tourbillon features a delicately decorated carriage, finished in rose gold PVD, that encapsulates the balance wheel, hairspring and escape wheel. It is a constellation of 68 superbly finished components that, when assembled and fine-tuned expertly, allows the JCAA03 to keep accurate time throughout its 48-hour power reserve.

Case & Crystal

The case of Epic SF24 Tourbillon measures 45 millimeters in diameter, 13.65 millimeters thick at its center, and 16.70 millimeters at the top of the World Time Display. Its case is crafted from polished 18K rose gold. The case sides, pusher and crown are inset with rubber in a honeycomb pattern, typical of the SF24 collection. An anti-reflective sapphire crystal covers the main dial, and a specially curved sapphire crystal safeguards the Split-Flap display, allowing for unhindered viewing of its operation and the spectacular mechanism inside. The case-back also features a sapphire crystal pane, with a Jacob & Co metallized decor, proudly stating the name of the Epic SF24 Tourbillon's creator.

Dial & Hands

The Epic SF24 Tourbillon comes with a blue opaline dial, with two available patterns. On is the Epic signature honeycomb patter, the other a recurring pattern of the world time indication main cities.

Above it all stands the Split-Flap display for the World Time's city name and its matching hour indication, also in blue. The skeletonized central hands and the hour indices have luminescent coating for increased legibility under all circumstances.
