It started with an idea conceived by Jacob & Co. together with Bugatti - how to reproduce the visceral sensation of the iconic Bugatti 16-cylinder engine in a timepiece.
After almost a year of development working together, they created the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon. Everything in this timepiece is designed to honor the Chiron hyper sports car. The sleek tonneau-shaped case is inspired by the flowing lines of the Chiron. The movement powers the timing functions, a 60-second flying tourbillon and, most importantly, a fully operational recreation of the Bugatti iconic W16 engine. The entire movement is on display beneath a wide piece of sapphire crystal.
The Bugatti Chiron Baguette Diamonds and Black Sapphires is a unique piece in 18K white gold. It features 232 specifically-cut baguette white diamonds, weighing approximately 10 ct and an astounding quantity of an extremely rare gem : black sapphires. 109 for 5.68 ct on the case, 60 on the three crowns and pushers (2.5 ct). This complements the 18 diamonds on the buckle of the rubber strap (1.71 ct), and one last diamond sitting on top of the flying tourbillon with a 30° incline. The dial's indices are made of 18 diamonds and 8 rubies, all pentagon-cut. The total number of gems on the Bugatti Chiron Baguette Diamonds and Black Sapphires is 446, for a total weight of diamonds of approximately 12.36 ct. and a total weight of black sapphires of approximately 8.18 ct.
