Epic X Chrono Khabib in Titanium

The thrill of what happens in the ring, or the cage, is a personal passion of Jacob Arabo. That passion has been translating into partnerships and endorsements throughout Jacob & Co.'s history. Khabib Nurmagomedov, aka The Eagle, is one of the most talented MMA fighters ever. Fast, ferocious and relentless, he ended his career on a record-breaking 29 victories (including 11 submissions) to 0 defeats. Jacob & Co. dedicated an entire collection to the UFC lightweight champion. The Epic X Khabib timepieces are a testimony of the profound and constant involvement of Jacob & Co. with the worlds of MMA, boxing and overall bare-hand combat.

When launching the new Epic X collection in 2016, Jacob & Co. ventured into a new direction, with new shapes, new material and a new frame of mind. The inspiration of the design came from the letter X which symbolizes something unknown, mysterious and appealing which was the energy of the brand at the time. The Epic X Khabib collection consists of 4 limited, special series. Epic X Khabib, Epic X Chrono Khabib Black Titanium, Epic X Chrono Khabib Titanium and Epic X Tourbillon Khabib all celebrate the fighter. His 29-0 career score, his personal logo, his nickname (The Eagle), his favorite color (green) are all featured on the bridges, casebacks and hidden recesses of the Epic X Khabib timepieces.

The Epic X Khabib collection draws on emblematic movements from the Epic X collection. The 47-mm chronograph requires a movement that brings all the energy of Epic X and takes it up one notch. Caliber JCAA05 is a self-winding chronograph with two registers, a configuration called bi-compax. The classic movement architecture, with horizontal clutch, column wheel and two pushers is interpreted in a sporty fashion. Along with its chronograph function, Epic X 47MM comes with a rare feature. Its inner ring is not fixed. It rotates on demand thanks to a second crown at 10 o'clock. This allows to create time marks, or a countdown process that adds to the piece's natural complexity. The case is engineered to shield every protruding part. The crown, the pushers, the countdown crown are all inserted in pieces that come out of the case's round shape. This ruggedness is further enhanced by the case's is water-resistance to 200 meters.

The Epic X Khabib collection uses 3 calibers. Caliber JCAA05 for Epic X Khabib Chronograph, caliber JCAM03 for the Epic X Khabib Tourbillon and Caliber JCAM02 for the Epic X Khabib. Functional, sturdy, finely finished, they all bear the signature design elements of Jacob & Co. and of the Epic X collection.

THE CHRONOGRAPH

The pusher at 2 o'clock starts and stops the timing function. This sequence can be activated at will, with no necessary end. Elapsed time is shown with the central seconds hand and the 30-minute register at 3 o'clock on the dial. Once the timing sequence is over, the 4 o'clock pusher resets all the hands. Epic X Chrono Khabib is ready for the next timing.

THE FLYING TOURBILLON

Gravity naturally has a negative impact on a movement's accuracy. By putting its escapement into a constant spin, the tourbillon counteracts this natural defect. In the process, it becomes a rotating, fascinating and prestigious creation, a manifestation of expertise and craft, designed for chronometry. As the tourbillon carriage is held only by its base, it has no upper bridge, making it a flying tourbillon.

THE SKELETON MOVEMENT

Caliber JCAM02 was specifically developed for Epic X Skeleton. It offers maximum transparency thanks to its skeletonized form. All the components that should be full are hollowed out. The structure becomes the shape. Even the vertical Jacob & Co. logo has a structured, unusual appearance.

All timepieces in the Epic X Khabib collection have two sides. One is a fan's statement of admiration for one of the greatest fighters in recent history. The other is an alluring selection of the finest Epic X designs, available in black titanium and green, natural titanium and green and a special blue version of the Epic X Tourbillon.
